Key Expiration
What are Key Expiration alerts?
In order for an Algorand address to participate in the consensus mechanism, the account owner needs to have a valid participation key. Participation keys are valid for a finite number of blocks, after which they expire. Our key expiration alerts can inform Metrika users for the following events:
Participation key is about to expire
Participation key has expired
How are key expiration alerts triggered?
Key Expiration alerts get triggered on an hourly basis. They can be triggered in two ways: (1) your participation key is set to expire within 48 hours, or (2) your participation key has expired.
What notifications will I receive?
You will receive a single email notification per address you are subscribed to when your key is about to expire, and if not resolved, when your key subsequently expires. If the issue persists, you will not receive any additional notifications, but its status will remain “Firing” in the Metrika platform.
Once the issue is resolved, you will receive an email notification within the next hour informing you about the resolution of the participation key issue.
How do I resolve it?
Create a new participation key and register it online before the current one expires. Check out step-by-step instructions on how to renew your key.
